Conquering technology – The big dream of ADT Global’s founder

When asked about the journey of conquering technology with his team, ADT’s Founder, Mr. Nguyễn Thế Duy, affirmed that he wants to take ADT to new heights by exploring and applying the most advanced trends in the industry.

Striking a balance between passion and reality

A former technology student in the UK, Mr. Nguyễn Thế Duy has always carried an aspiration to succeed in interactive communications and virtual reality technology. His dream and goal is to contribute to the strong development of the technology sector in Vietnam and to make practical contributions to the community.

However, passion only truly means something when viewed through the lens of reality. Going back 10 years, while many other communications businesses were still pursuing the production of music videos, commercial videos, and the like, Mr. Nguyễn Thế Duy boldly chose to focus on applying interactive technology in communications activities, at a time when the concept was still quite new to the market. First, customers had never heard of it; second, even when they had, many still doubted the effectiveness that these modern technology solutions could deliver.

In that situation, what did Mr. Nguyễn Thế Duy do to persuade customers and prove ADT’s technological capabilities?

“We’ve always set the goal of building practical technology solutions that solve the market’s real problems and deliver real value to customers. One thing that has left a particularly distinctive mark on ADT is that we always listen to feedback and continuously improve, adapting flexibly to the rapid pace of change in the technology market. As a result, our implementation team has gradually come to own technologies with their own distinctive character and outstanding quality, which have become ADT’s own advantage.”

Mr. Duy also said that ADT is currently focusing on the group of interactive technologies that many studies by Big Tech companies around the world consider an inevitable trend of the future.

“These characters are called AI Metahumans. They can be fictional characters who don’t actually exist, or copies (digital twins) of ourselves. These copies help each person ease everyday pressures, such as supporting work, looking after health, meeting needs for connection and entertainment, and developing oneself to become the role model one wants to be,” said Mr. Nguyễn Thế Duy.

On the journey of staying with the ADT team up to today, Mr. Duy and his teammates have overcome quite a few difficulties and challenges.

In your entrepreneurial journey, was there a landmark deal that you’ll always remember? As a leader, what did you do to overcome those challenges?

“As a pioneer pursuing interactive communications and virtual reality technology, a concept that seemed quite unfamiliar to businesses many years ago, we often received very difficult briefs, some even unprecedented in the market. Once, our client wanted to develop a type of technology that, at the time, only Disney in the entire world had ever done, and at a cost that was far from small. The whole team hesitated a lot then, but I always thought that if the world could do it, why couldn’t ADT? And in the end, we really did it.

Investing in interactive technology is an expensive game with even more complicated factors. We need to piece together the rather dry details of information technology with creative minds who love art. There are many tough challenges, but to get through to today, the leadership team has always kept in mind that we must see things through to the end, out of responsibility to our customers and to the teammates who chose to walk with us, while constantly learning new knowledge and building up market experience and social relationships.”

One of the notable achievements of the ADT team is the virtual human Vi An, the virtual brand ambassador of Viettel Group, jointly researched and developed by ADT. Vi An was created with lifelike skin, hair, and gaze, making it hard to recognize her as a virtual human unless you’ve been told beforehand. She appeared prominently at the Viettel Y-FEST music festival held on Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street, drawing great interest and receiving many positive interactions from the user community.

Following on from its strengths in developing Metahumans, does ADT have any big technology projects launching soon?

“With our technological capabilities, we hope to contribute even more value to the domestic and regional markets so that our international friends can see the quality of Vietnamese-made intelligent products. ADT plans to launch this year AI Metahuman characters and an augmented reality (AR/VR) platform to help businesses elevate their customers’ shopping experience, improve business performance, and take ownership of their data, which is a very valuable resource for every business.

Right now, ADT is working with a number of global partners that are Big Tech companies to develop high-quality products that deliver outstanding business results for enterprises. Personally, I believe that technology will always change, but the resources we’ve distilled together with our team will be a lasting value, continuing to spread and become the culture of ADT’s people. This is the key to ADT moving fast and continuously creating differentiation.”
