In 2025, the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) marks 50 years since its founding and development, half a century closely tied to the cause of building and defending the country and contributing to national energy security and socio-economic development. On this momentous occasion, on September 21, 2025, Petrovietnam held a Science and Technology Exhibition to showcase its outstanding achievements and advanced scientific and technological applications in the oil, gas and energy sector. As part of the event, the PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) displayed 8 representative models/products in both indoor and outdoor areas. These works clearly demonstrate PTSC’s capabilities, strengths, and pioneering role in oil and gas, industry, and offshore renewable energy.
50 years of science and technology innovation at Petrovietnam: Petrovietnam Celebrates 50 Years of Science and Technology Innovation – ADT Global — AI, Physical AI & Interactive Technology
1. Bien Dong 01 Project
Bien Dong 1 is a nationally important oil and gas project, the largest in Vietnam as of 2020, with a total construction volume of more than 50,000 tonnes, comprising one central processing platform, two wellhead platforms, and a complex network of intra-field pipelines. The project was carried out over four years, and every stage, from design, procurement, fabrication, and installation supervision to commissioning, was handled by Vietnamese engineers. The resounding success of Bien Dong 1 not only affirms PTSC’s capability as a leading oil and gas engineering contractor in the region, trusted by international investors, but also marks a major step forward in the maturity of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry, helping raise the country’s standing on the world energy map.

2. Oil Export Hoses: A Safe and Efficient Solution for Offshore Oil and Gas Production
Oil export hoses are specialized equipment in the oil and gas production chain, used to transfer crude oil and condensate from FSO/FPSO vessels to receiving tankers. PTSC currently owns and operates six FSO/FPSO vessels. The oil export hose system on PTSC’s Lam Son FPSO project has operated safely and efficiently for the past 10 years, supporting more than 70 offloading trips and about 17.5 million barrels of crude oil, which generated over USD 1 billion in revenue.
The hoses are made of specialized four-layer rubber and comply with the OCIMF GMPHOM 2009 standard. They float on the sea surface, resist corrosion and UV rays, and withstand high pressure. Each hose section is 10.7 meters long, weighs 1.1 to 1.4 tons, and has a diameter of 51 to 60 cm.

3. Offshore Substation (OSS) – TPC II Project (Taiwan)
Regarded as the “heart” of an offshore wind farm, the substation receives all the electricity generated by the turbines and transmits it to shore through a subsea cable system. On the TPC II project (Taiwan), PTSC successfully fabricated and delivered an offshore substation, one of the most complex wind power projects in the region. The 3,390-tonne topside is fully integrated with the electrical systems, transformers, control systems, and operational utilities. It meets DNV-GL’s rigorous certification procedures and uses a modern SCADA system that meets international standards. The entire process, from design, fabrication, and installation to testing and handover, was managed by PTSC engineers. This success not only affirms Vietnam’s capability to fabricate extra-large, extra-heavy structures but also raises PTSC’s standing in the global wind power supply chain.
4. Transition Piece (TP) – A Key Component of the CHW2204 Project (Taiwan)
The Transition Piece (TP) is the structure that connects the jacket foundation to the turbine tower. It transfers and distributes loads from the turbine down to the foundation for the 33 offshore wind jackets of the CHW2204 project. The product is fabricated from large-diameter steel structures up to 87 mm thick, requiring extremely high precision in manufacturing. The entire welding process uses advanced technology with 100% non-destructive testing (NDT), combined with a multi-layer anti-corrosion coating system, ensuring durable operation in the harsh marine environment.

5. K-Node – A Key Component in the Foundation Structures of Offshore Wind and Oil and Gas Projects
The K-Node is a core component in the foundation structures of offshore wind and oil and gas projects, and it demands the most complex and time-consuming fabrication techniques. The product is fabricated using G-Fit technology, applied for the first time in Vietnam, with material up to 110 mm thick, meeting stringent Z-test requirements. The welding process requires welders to hold 6GR certification, the most difficult qualification in the industry, and every joint is controlled for tolerance and absolute dimensional accuracy. The successful fabrication of the K-Node affirms PTSC’s capability to handle complex structures that meet international standards, strengthens its reputation in offshore wind projects, and will be applied to future oil and gas projects. Applying this new technique, in addition to improving productivity, once again demonstrates PTSC’s pioneering role in applying science and technology to its new services.

6. Design Capability for Energy Projects
Design capability is the core foundation that has allowed PTSC to gradually transform from a purely construction and installation contractor into an EPCI general contractor for domestic and international energy projects. With more than 300 experienced engineers, PTSC has mastered all detailed engineering work packages and delivers full-scope design packages for oil and gas and offshore wind projects, ensuring consistency, strict quality control, and optimized schedules and costs. This is clear evidence of technological self-reliance and also affirms PTSC’s position in carrying out key energy projects at home and abroad. At the exhibition, PTSC engineers directly answered questions and demonstrated their design capability through visual models and advanced technical solutions, leaving a strong impression on leaders, partners, customers, and visitors.

7. HVDC/HVAC Subsea Cable Model – PTSC Phu My High-Voltage Cable Factory
The subsea cable system is a flagship product for connecting and transmitting offshore wind power. It is manufactured at the PTSC Phu My High-Voltage Cable Factory, a symbol of modern power transmission technology in Vietnam and the ASEAN region. The factory is planned to cover 20 hectares and operate two 525 kV HVDC lines and one 66 kV HVAC line, with a design capacity of 500 km of HVDC cable per year and 200 km of HVAC cable per year. The products use advanced insulation materials that withstand harsh seabed conditions, ensuring safety, durability, and high reliability. Beyond serving domestic projects, the factory also aims to enable cross-border energy connections between Vietnam and Singapore and between Vietnam and Malaysia, contributing to the formation of an “electricity highway” in the region.
8. The Energy Highway
In the coming period, PTSC will focus on researching and developing the North-South subsea “Energy Highway” project, applying modern high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology. This is regarded as a strategic solution that helps ensure national energy security and strengthens inter-regional connectivity. It also opens the opportunity for Vietnam to become an energy hub of ASEAN, gradually forming a stable, flexible, and reliable domestic grid that can connect to the regional ASEAN grid in the future.

Participating in the exhibition celebrating Petrovietnam’s 50th anniversary, PTSC not only showcased its capabilities along with key products and services, but also demonstrated its long-time partnership with the Group over the past half-century. This is an opportunity for PTSC to reaffirm its role as a leading enterprise and a pioneer in developing the oil and gas – energy industry’s infrastructure, contributing to the shared goal: turning Petrovietnam into a top National Industry – Energy Group in the region by 2030, with sustainable development and deep international integration.

As a strategic technology partner, ADT Global visualized Petrovietnam’s (PVN) core operations through a specialized interactive exhibition booth solution for the energy industry. The interactive event display system, combined with an interactive controller, allows delegates to proactively retrieve and navigate complex project data smoothly. In particular, immersive XR technology was deployed to create a comprehensive 3D simulation of the operating environment, leaving a strong visual impression and affirming the company’s pioneering vision at the 50th anniversary event series.
